Gun Bluing and Cerakote Gun Finishing

At Colby Country Trader Gun Shop, we offer a wide range of gun coatings and firearm restoration services to our customers. No matter if you take your guns out for monthly hunting trips or if they remain safely tucked away in a display case, our services will help to protect your firearms both now and into the future.

Gun Coatings

Gun coatings can protect your firearms from corrosion while also increasing durability and longevity. There are several types of coatings that we at Colby Country provide, including:

Hot Gun Bluing

Gun bluing, also known as steel bluing, is a type of metal coating in which the iron in steel is converted to black oxide. This makes the gun virtually rust-resistant, only needing regular light oiling to keep the coating in top shape.

Cerakote

Cerakote is a ceramic-based coating that is extremely durable. Not only is it incredibly scratch- and impact-resistant, but it is also rust-resistant and heat-resistant, withstanding temperatures of over 1000 degrees Fahrenheit. It comes in a wide variety of colors and materials to give you the exact look that you desire.

Powder Coating

Applied with an electrostatic spray gun, powder coating uses dry powder to cover an item. That powder is then heated in order to fuse into a protective layer. Being both water- and heat-resistant, powder coated guns can stand up to the natural elements like no other.

Firearm Restoration Services

Antique firearms are an important part of history, but for many, the years have taken their toll. At Colby Country Trader Gun Shop, we can restore your firearms to their former glory without compromising any of the original craftmanship and history that the gun carries with it.
